Pride Whanganui is delighted to announce a heartwarming partnership that celebrates love, inclusivity, and the power of community. Through their commitment to fostering acceptance and equality, Pride Whanganui has organized a remarkable wedding giveaway event, gifting one lucky couple the chance to celebrate their love in a truly special way. 

Dedicated to supporting the LGBTTQI+ community in Whanganui and beyond, Pride Whanganui is proud to provide this opportunity for a couple to win an unforgettable wedding experience at the 2024 Pride Party – the biggest and final event in the Whanganui Pride Week calendar.

In collaboration with generous sponsors and supporters, Pride Whanganui has curated an enchanting celebration that reflects the diversity and beauty of love in all its forms. The winning couple will receive a dream wedding package, including a stunning venue – the Main Hall of the Whanganui War Memorial Centre, celebrant services from Scott Phillips aka Married with Metal, photography from the talented Skye Boniface and three nights’ at The Braeburn – a heritage listed building that overlooks the Whanganui Awa.

Pride Whanganui aims to make this event a symbol of love, acceptance, and unity, showcasing the richness of the local LGBTTQI+ community. “We are thrilled to provide this wonderfully queer opportunity that highlights the importance of love, respect, and acceptance. Love knows no boundaries, and we are dedicated to creating a celebration that truly represents the spirit of inclusivity” said Christina Emery, Manager of Pride Whanganui.

By promoting love and acceptance, the organization continues to advocate for a more inclusive society where every individual can love and be loved without prejudice. 

 

How does it work: 

Couples enter below, with final applications closing on Friday 24th of November. From the applications received, Pride Whanganui Trustees + Volunteers will identify three couples who will be made public on Saturday 25th of November with an opportunity for the public to vote for their favourite couple. Voting closes on Saturday the 16th of December where the votes will be tallied and the couple with the most votes will be deemed the winner.

CELEBRANT - SCOTT PHILLIPS

Scott is an an experienced wedding celebrant based in Whanganui. If your style is not mainstream, then he's definitely able to make your special day a reflection of you. Scott does a wide variety of weddings, but like his number plate says, he sees himself as an "extreme wedding specialist".

Photographer - SKYE BONIFACE

Talented Photographer Skye Boniface shows incredible skill and an impeccable eye through her work. Whether she's capturing a wedding, a crowd of people or a collection of vinyls - the essence that is captured through Skye's work is truly breathtaking.

ACCOMMODATION - The Braeburn

This heritage listed building sits next to the Whanganui Awa. The Braeburn was built in 1915 as a Hotel and is now a mixture of apartments and Airbnb units.

VENUE - WHANGANUI WAR MEMORIAL CENTRE

The Whanganui War Memorial Centre was opened on ANZAC Day - 25th April - 1960 and was constructed as a living memorial to the 375 service men and women from Whanganui who lost their lives during World War II.

Win a Wedding with Pride Whanganui – Entry Terms and Conditions

1. Eligibility:

• The competition is open to individuals aged 18 and older, except volunteers of Pride Whanganui and their immediate family members.

• Participants must comply with all applicable laws and regulations.

• By entering the competition, participants agree to abide by these terms and conditions.

2. Entry:

• To enter the competition, participants must complete the official entry form in its entirety. Via online form or paper form provided by Pride Whanganui.

• Entries that are incomplete, illegible, or submitted after 5pm Friday 24th November 2023 will not be eligible.

• Only one entry per person is allowed.

3. Prize:

• The prize for the competition is a Wedding Ceremony to be held at the Whanganui Pride Party on Saturday the 2nd of March 2024.

• The prize is non-transferable and non-exchangeable for cash or other items not listed below.

The prize includes Celebrant Services by Scott Phillips, Photography by Skye Boniface, three nights accommodation at the Braeburn Apartments, free entry to the event for 100 people and marriage license fee paid for by Pride Whanganui.

• Pride Whanganui reserves the right to substitute any element of the prize with similar services of equal or greater value.

4. Winner Selection:

• Entries close: 5pm Friday 24th November 2023. Once entries close, Pride Whanganui Trustees + Volunteers will select three couples as the finalists.

• 3 finalists called: Saturday 25th November 2023 

• 3 finalists announced: 7pm Saturday 25th November 2023 

• Voting opens: 7pm Saturday 25th November 2023 

• Voting closes: 5pm Saturday 16th December 2023. The couple with the most votes via online and paper voting forms will be deemed the winner. 

• Winner rung: 7pm Saturday 16th December 2023

• Other 2 couples rung: 7pm Saturday 16th December 2023

• Winner announced: 8pm Saturday 16th December 2023

5. Publicity:

• By entering the competition, participants grant Pride Whanganui the right to use their name, photo, and entry form section ‘your story + what does this mean to you’ for promotional and marketing purposes.

6. Privacy:

• Pride Whanganui will collect and use personal information solely for the purpose of administering the competition, unless consent is provided for other uses.

• Personal information will not be shared with third parties, except as necessary for prize fulfillment.

7. Disqualification:

• Pride Whanganui reserves the right to disqualify any participant who violates these terms and conditions or engages in fraudulent or unethical conduct.

8. Liability:

• Pride Whanganui is not responsible for any losses, damages, or injuries arising from participation in the competition or the use of the prize.

• Participants assume all liability for any harm or injury caused by their entry or participation in the competition.

9. Modification or Termination:

• Pride Whanganui reserves the right to modify or terminate the competition at any time, for any reason, without prior notice.

10. Agreement:

• By entering the competition, participants acknowledge that they have read, understood, and agree to these terms and conditions.
